foodwarmer in oak
Maartensdijk 1975
When I was sixteen i got my hollydayjob from my father. I had to carve 10 footwarmers.
To make this kind of woodcarving is very easy and a good start to greater woodcarvings. You only need a brain and a flat chisel.

I had to draw, saw and carve th foodwarmers. It took me two and a half day each. My father did one a day.

Thank you.

This kind of woodcarving is the most easyest way to start with woodcarving. When I started with woodcarving, this is one of the first ten I made in order of my father. I was 16 and it was my hollyday job.

Very nicely done.... shows your skill. What would a box like this be used for?

It's a footwarmer in English. In former times, when there where no heaters in for excample churches, they putted some heated coal in an little storage and putted this in the foodwarmer. Then especial the women putted their feet on it and because of that they had big skirts they kept it so warm.
